The Establishment has been doing hair on Downing Street since 2013, and every service on this page starts the same way: a proper consultation, not a quick chat while you're still taking your coat off. Rule one at The Establishment - we never touch your hair without asking first. We ask what you're hoping for, what you dislike about your current hair, and how it fits your actual week, then tell you honestly what's possible before anything begins.
Most days that means beautifully lived-in balayage or a cut that survives the school run. Some days it means someone leaves with magenta hair, and we love those days just as much. That's true whether you're in for balayage with Lisa B, a precision cut with Ben, one of Mike's signature curly cuts, or a straightforward haircut and blow dry. We work exclusively with Goldwell, KMS and Kerasilk - professional products formulated for hair health, not just the result you see leaving the salon - and every chemical we use is vegan.

How It Works
Consultation-first, always
Every appointment starts with a conversation: tell us about your hair, what you're hoping for, and what your week actually looks like - a 6am–9pm day means a daily hour-long styling routine won't work, so we plan around real life. We check texture and condition honestly and tell you what's realistically possible before we start, and we check in again after the basin in case you've changed your mind. If you say "an inch," we'll ask you to show us - it varies more than people think.
Colour services legally require a patch test 48 hours before your appointment (except Elumen), so do get in touch before booking if it's your first colour visit with us. Technical colour is for over-16s, and 16–18 year-olds need a parent at the consultation.

Do I need a patch test before a colour appointment?
Yes - a colour allergy test is a legal requirement 48 hours before all colour services, with the exception of Goldwell Elumen. Get in touch before you book if you're new to colour with us.
Is a blow dry included with a haircut?
Yes, professional finishing is free with every haircut - there's no separate wet-cut price. See our blow dry page for more.
